In the light of the observation of Fifth Central Pay Commission and subsequent Pay Commissions and also to cater the needs of the Department for taking various policy decisions, it has been decided to establish an online Manpower Management Information System (MMIS) of regular Central Government Civilian employees.
MMIS basically consists of
(i)Group wise number of civilian employees and
(ii)Pay and allowances and other non-plan expenditure
in respect of more than 760 Secretarial/ subordinate / attached offices located in India and 182 Indian mission located in various countries. The information is found to be very useful for working out financial implications of various proposals of the Government and also taking policy decisions with regard to creation / upgradation / abolition of different posts. Based on the information the Pay Research Unit (PRU) of this Department also brings out an annual publication entitled “Annual Report on Pay and Allowances of Central Government Civilian Employees”.
