Pay Research Unit

In the light of the observations of the Fifth Central Pay Commission and also to cater to the needs of the Department for taking various policy decisions, it has been decided to establish an online Manpower Management Information System (MMIS) of Central Government Civilian employees.

MMIS basically consists of
i) Scale-wise number of civilian employees and
ii) Pay, allowances and other non-plan expenditure

in respect of more than 1500 Secretariat/ subordinate/ attached offices located in India and 155 Indian missions located in various countries. The information is found to be very useful for working out financial implications of various proposals of the Government and also taking policy decisions with regard to creation / upgradation / abolition of different posts. Based on the information the Pay Research Unit (PRU) of this Department also brings out an annual publication entitled “Brochure on Pay and Allowances of Central Government Civilian Employees”.
